SCC Radiography Student Organization donates stuffed animals, crayons and coloring books to area hospitals

The Radiography Student Organization (RSO) at Somerset Community College recently donated stuffed animals, crayons and coloring books to the Radiography Departments at Lake Cumberland Regional County Hospital, LCRH Imaging Center, and Lake Cumberland Medical Associates. The donated items were available for children undergoing x-ray procedures at these facilities.

Members of the Radiography Student Organization (RSO) of Somerset Community College are involved in community service activities in Clinton and surrounding counties. RSO provides students with opportunities to become involved in community service and campus-based activities while developing organizational and leadership skills. Current students in the SCC Radiography Program are eligible for RSO membership.

A total of 240 bears, 720 packs of crayons, and 720 coloring books were distributed to radiology departments at Clinton County Hospital, Fort Logan Hospital, Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and Imaging Center, Lake Cumberland Medical Associates, The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital, Rockcastle County Hospital, Russell County Hospital, and Wayne County Hospital. Shanda Catron, RSO faculty sponsor, and Sally Kemp, 2007 RSO President, presented the items to staff at each site.

Several RSO members also raised money to purchase items for donation to Bethany House, a spousal abuse shelter located in Pulaski County,. RSO members selected and delivered games, toys, and craft projects for each child. Various items of clothing were provided for every Bethany House resident.
