Scoring – Theatrical Scene

For each auditioner, score these areas:

Vocal Characterization. How well were vocal choices made to convey the character in the scene?

Physical Characterization. How well were physical choices made to convey the character in the scene?

Character Believability. How well were you able to believe that this actor was the character they were performing?

Build up. How well did the piece itself build up to something dramatic?

Dramatic Impact. How effectively did the piece deliver a dramatic impact?

Character Connection. How effectively did the two performers work off of each other?

Appropriateness. Was the piece appropriate for the performer? Was it appropriate to the auditioner’s age and type?

Was the piece written for the stage? We discourage songs from any medium other than stage plays. Scenes from film are discouraged.

Was the language appropriate for a piece that will be performed in front of high school students and their parents? We discourage profanity. If profanity is used please give this area a zero.

Overall Rating. How would you rate the overall impact of the piece performed?

Ask the timekeeper to tell you the length of the performance after each audition. Record that in the area marked Timer.

Constructive Comments. Please include comments that will help the auditioner to improve their performing. Please keep these comments constructive in nature.
